Technical problems

As you will have seen (far, far too much) there have been some considerable technical problems here at BeatsBase.com. I can’t promise that it’s all fixed, but it’s certainly looking better than it was.

The good news is that despite the code going to pot, there have been some new mixes added. Check out The Awakening1 by rborn (who has an album coming out!) and retropia by doctorstone. Remember you can keep an eye on all new mixes as they are added here.

So, what else is happening? Well, a bit of stuff - just not as much as I’d like. I’ve started to rewrite BeatsBase.com pretty much from scratch with loads of new features. Much better profiles for each member and groups are the main ones, but I also hope to get some cool integration with Facebook and Twitter working, too. Hopefully I’ll have things sorted out enough soon to post up some screenshots.

In the meantime, if you have any ideas for BeatsBase.com please get in touch - I’d love to hear your suggestions.

Following the success of our recently announced 1000mb of free mix hosting space for every BeatsBase user, we are beginning to make a number of other improvements to the site! Here are a few of them…

Up to the minute DJ news is now displayed on our home page courtesy of our friends at DJ mag
The ‘Whats happening on BeatsBase’ function now keeps you up to date on the very latest contributions from your fellow users
Improved moderation features have dramatically reduced spamming of comments

It’s finally here! 1000mb of Free Mix Hosting AND up to 200mb per mix!!

It’s taken longer than I would have liked of course but I’m delighted to finally report that every BeatsBase user now has 1000mb of free mix hosting space to upload your dj sets!! And as if that wasn’t enough we’ve also increased the single file upload limit to 200mb!!

Are we getting ahead of ourselves to suggest this is the best dj mix upload offer in the world?! Hmm… maybe… but then again who cares - enjoy the extra capacity!

As always if you notice any teething problems with the changes we’ve made to our upload system give us a shout through the contact us section and we’ll do our best to sort it.

Those of your with a keen eye may have noticed that this blog entry has changed a little. Originally I had said that we would soon be offering users 3 levels of profile upgrade to give you more space to upload your mixes but things have changed- for the better!

I have decided to offer every BeatsBase user 1000mb of free mix hosting with no need to upgrade your account! The entire philosophy of BeatsBase is to provide a service to aspiring Djs and whilst it means a slight hit in our pockets I feel like it’s important to stick to my belief that BeatsBase should remain entirely free!

When? I hear you ask. Well as you may have noticed a few changes have been taking place on the site and their are a few more planned for the next week or two which will change the appearance of the home page slightly. Following these improvements all user accounts will have their mix hosting capacity increased to 1000mb! Watch this space!

As we approach our first anniversary online we felt it’s about time we opened it out to the floor to ask you our dedicated users what you think of BeatsBase and what we can do to improve it in our second 12 months. Above all else we want the site to evolve with you to make it as useful as possible to DJs of all backgrounds and levels of experience so any comments or feedback you have will be greatly appreciated. BeatsBase agree partnership with BPM.fm

As has been hinted at for a number of months now I am delighted to announce that BeatsBase.com has teamed up with the online dj radio service BPM.fm to provide our users with the chance of having their mixes broadcasted to the world as part of one of BPM.fm’s dj shows.

Discussions are currently underway to secure a weekly BeatsBase slot on BPM.fm radio which will be filled with a selection of the finest mixes uploaded by you our users. Stay tuned for more details and get uploading those mixes through our NEW and IMPROVED upload system!

BeatsBase User Hits BBC Radio 1!

Few could argue to have had a better start to 2008Â than BeatsBase user Atkinson who’s track ‘Perpetual Sunrise’ has been played by DJ Judge Jules live on his Radio 1 show.Â Will Atkinson, still only 17, explained “hearing my track on Radio 1 really is a dream come true.Â All I’ve ever been able to think about since I started producing is hearing my work on the Radio.”

Whilst distribution issues have restricted Atkinson uploading ‘Perpetual Sunrise’ to BeatsBase just yet he does hope to have an edited versionÂ on the site in the near future so watch this space.Â

Hey there folks,Â sorry its been such a while sinceÂ the last post on the BeatsBase blog.Â Thankfully one or two things have been going on behind the scenes ensuring the evolution of the BeatsBase community which may not be immediately obvious to the naked eye.

Perhaps most exciting is the fact that, based on the quality of the mixes uploaded to BeatsBase, we haveÂ been approached by more than one on-line DJ radio station about the possibility of working together to promote the work of our talented members.Â Needless to say there are a few technical issues to discuss but all being well we should have some exciting announcements to make over the coming days and weeks!Â Watch this space!
